| Wellyboot Machine |
|
This hydropower project used a stream flow at Belmontmill Studios to conduct a walking machine experiment. The Wellyboot Machine was constructed using materials and elements sourced from the surrounding mill and locality. Waterwheels have been used for hundreds of years to power mills and machinery. For this project a waterwheel was used to power a crankshaft that mimicked two people walking side by side on the water. The Wellyboot Machine was completed as part of Susan Williams Bursary at Belmontmill Studios, Co. Offaly, Ireland. Belmontmill Studios are supported by Offaly County Council and the Arts Council. Pictured below installing the Wellyboot Machine are Michael Kelly, Steal Neal Borowsky and Susan Williams.
